[Also in Group VIII] A method of producing a printing platecomprises placing a synthetic plastic sheet, used to form part of the plate, on a matrixwhich has been treated with a release agent, superimposing on the sheet a syntheticrubber base, applying pressure to the assembly in a heated press at 150-160‹ C. wherebythe plate is moulded and the parts thereof are bonded together, and subsequentlycooling the plate in a cooling press at approximately 40‹ C. The plastic sheet may be acopolymer of polyvinyl chloride of a thickness between 0.030 inch and 0.015 inch and thesynthetic rubber base may be uncured nitrile rubber of such a thickness as to bring thefinished plate to a thickness of between 0.080 inch and 0.100 inch. A cotton or linencontrol cloth may be inserted between the plastic sheet and rubber base to preventshrinkage. The assembly is placed in the heated press and the platens of the press areplaced in contact with the assembly for 1¢ minutes before the application of pressure soas to soften the plastic sheet. The pressure applied is in the region of 600-1120 1b. persquare inch and lasts for ten minutes. The finished plate, being flexible, may be used on acylinder or on a platen. The matrix used is of \" Bakelite \" (Registered Trade Mark) andaccording to the Provisional Specification the release agent may consist of graphite in
